Kids Social Skills

Children will develop appropriate social skills through a multi-level program, which also includes sessions for parents and teachers. This program is offered in cooperation with Estelle Siebens Community Services associated with Foothills Academy. It is facilitated by a Chartered Psychologist.

What will you do?

Learn how to solve problems, cooperate and resolve conflicts, in a safe and supportive environment. You will also participate in activities as well as learn and use friendship and conversation skills and most of all you will have fun!

• Social Skills for 8 to 12 year olds
  Many children with learning disabilities and related disorders have difficulty learning social skills intuitively; but they can learn these skills if they are taught. We offer these programs in cooperation with Estelle Siebens Community Services associated with Foothills Academy and are facilitated by a Registered Psychologist. The programs teach communication, friendship, and problem solving skills especially designed for children with learning disabilities and AD/HD who have social skills difficulties. All social skills programs have qualified, trained staff with a 3:1 child to counselor ratio.

          Spring Session Dates: Saturdays, April 10 - June 5, 2010 (9 weeks)

• Social Skills Level II Program for 8 to 12 year olds
  Very much like the level I program, this program is meant to build on and expand what was learned in the previous sessions. Still facilitated by a Registered Psychologist, this program will use the previous lessons and enable children to move beyond some of the more basic skills and encourage self growth. All participants must complete level I before attending level II.
