Summer Horticultural Therapy Program

The LDAA-CC in collaboration with Parks Foundation of Calgary is excited to announce a brand new program starting this July! Sponsored by Parks Foundation of Calgary and led by trained horticultural therapist, this program is aimed to improve the health and well being of children through a participant centered gardening program. LougheedHouseGardens. Another season of gardening together at Lougheed House is soon to start! We hope you are eager to join us to grow and harvest your own flowers, herbs, and vegetables! Grow also your gardening skills, friendships, and community belonging.

Some of the outcomes include:

·        Fun, laughter, warmth and sunshine
·        Learn about gardening with an emphasis on hands-on gardening
·        Physical health maintenance and improvement
·        Emotional well-being improved
·        Age-appropriate leisure-skill development
·        Community inclusion and social interaction with peers and others
·        Increased awareness of positive nutrition and nutrition-related issues
